Our Founder
Richard Polese was a craftsman printer, newspaper, magazine and book editor before he created Ocean Tree Books in 1983. Ocean Tree's first title was Peace Pilgrim: Her Life and Work in Her Own Words, which continues today with over 500,000 copies in print in several languages. Richard's early background in historic, scientific and spiritual studies laid a firm foundation for today's titles from Ocean Tree Books. From our office in Santa Fe, he guides Ocean Tree's continuing selection, production and marketing of nonfiction titles of enduring quality and popular interests.
